DOG DAY AFTERNOON

I did these a while back for the sake of it. I was toying with the idea of doing personalised dog caricatures especially considering Newtown and Erskineville suburbs here in Sydney have apparently the highest ratio of dogs to people in the country. I've since given up the idea as I suspect dog owners cherish their widdle babies too much to have a caricaturist come near them.
So these are are now experiments gathering dust.

I was, briefly, member of a theatre group with a chap who lived in Newtown and had a business in dog portraiture. He had a profile on his business in a weekend magazine, 'The Good Weekend', I think.

His stuff was much more traditional than this - he would feature the dogs standing in a classical stance, such as you would see in an 18th or 19th century oil painting.
